Connecting the World

You will be amazed what you can do with just one little wood plank. “Kapla” planks are all the same size and measure about 8mm thick, 2.4cm wide and 12cm long. You can build crazy and exiting structures by simply stacking the planks, no glue and no connectors and only your imagination will be the limit. Planks can be stacked upright which looks like it would be unstable as a house of cards, but even this type of structure is surprisingly stable. Each team will receive a minimum of 500 planks and will construct a network of Contraptions roughly shaped as a spiral with interconnected walls.

The Centre of the structure will represent your company HQ. Balls representing your manpower will leave the Centre and will step by step reach further away- symbolising your company reaching all parts of the globe and Connecting the World.

Contraptions are intricate tunnels, towers, ramps and chutes that allow balls to move around! Just simple stacking small wood planks and the laws of gravity. As you build, learn the principals of slope, velocity, force, momentum and balance. The “bounce” of the ball provides some of the most surprising moves—make it twist, bump, hop and stop.
